North China Electric Power University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, and a key construction university for the national “211 Project" and “985 Project Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform." The university's main campus is located in Beiing, with an additional campus in Baoding, implementing integrated management between the two locations. In 2017, the university was selected as part of the national “Double First-Class" construction initiative, with a focus on the construction of the energy and electric power science and engineering discipline cluster. In 2022, the university successfully passed the first round of "Double First-Class" construction evaluation and entered the list of universities for the second round of construction. The discipline of electrical engineering was selected for the second round of "Double First-Class” construction.
